Yes…..Happy Labor Day to all! My local #55 is always in the Labor Day parade in Des Moines and then there is a picnic following. We have a brand new spanking Hall this year. I was fortunate to attend the July meeting and what a beautiful building. Sorry I did not get any photos of it to post here. But what was really nice was saying the Pledge of Allegiance at the meeting and not worrying about what is political correct!

What a fantastic weekend! enjoy everyone. I wish all Americans would take a few seconds and reflect on the Labor movement and all the sacrifices made that have benifited our lives and Families. Enjoy Today, kick back and relax with friends and family Smile

When I was a kid Labour Day really meant something with picnics, kids races, ball games. Families got together, the men who worked together brought their wives and kids to the large gathering.

Now Labour Day means little more that a stat holiday where you can go to the bar or pub or do the last camping of the year with your kids. (Our school starts the Tues after Labour Day)

Mind you when I was a kid there were still a lot of men and women around who actually really had to fight - and some died - still alive and it meant something to them. I grew up where many big fights for rights happened in the mines and in the forest industry.

How soon the heroes are forgotten. Sad really. I still remember those picnics celebrating the working man & women but I cannot say anything cause, at 60, everyone else is younger or was raised in Rat Provinces and moved out here to get a higher standard of living without having to bother with getting their hands dirty with union matters.

Oh well, that's my rant.

Enjoyed my labor day...didn't have to work, didn't want to work instead it was brisket and cervesa's. Think I'm becoming a light weight--I had a headache the next day.
