They sit in a 3' silo about 4' deep, and had a steel grate on top. You would remove the grate, and the primary, pri. switch, and secondary were on the top. They look kinda like a tall OH pot, with all the connections and switchs on the top.Non load break elbows. They were the bomb when shooting trouble, but to have to change one out or work on, they sucked!

We went through years ago and slowly replaced them. We pulled them out and sit a trans pad on top of the silo, and then installed padmount transformer.

If I stumble across one I will snap a picture.

We use pad mounts similar to type 2s but I believe the bushings are a little higher for switching. We can't get any 50 kvas lately? The co. is saying there's a shortage?
