I found this photo of a job down in Tucson, thought I would share.

The riser had to stay hot, as it fed an industrial area downtown.
The new dead-end was being set up for a re-conductor.

Who said dumb utility hands would just hand this type of work over to contractors?? Very Happy

What a cluster f**k!!! I had to enlarge your photo since the new pole at first look like it was fiberglass. Why wouldn’t they redesign that and have a pad mount tx feed the three phase secondary and only have one pole when done instead of two.

We were working out of district, teamed with a crew from that district.

I agree! We did manage to talk them into moving bank one span down, if you noticed the bank fed two ways. Riser was a feeder riser right next to substation, one they were proud of and had to stay hot. I would bet that to this day that riser is still on old pole.

I remember after laying out that mess the local foreman came to me and wanted to deadend that old copper on the back side of that new pole, before we pulled in the new conductor!
I'm thinking thats why I took the picture.
