Getting out of Binds
I always carry four of the ELASTIMOLD secondary six way bars. They will get you out of a bind at the periscope ( weather head) if you do not have the right connecters. In fact they actually make a good looking connection and I do know of four different locations that they are the permanent connection.

Are you talking about what I call underground mole bodies? You know what you use in a secondary handhole? If so....hahaha heard about a guy that looked up and was like WTF ???
That is a good idea if you have some 350 or what not your working with. Don't have the luxury of having a $3k dieless crimper/patriot tool for that. I do care them on my truck...when it rains pretty good I'm finding you'll open up a handhole and the water is just boiling.

If you ever get a chance; I would I like to see a picture of one of those locations. I'd like to see how they shaped/trained the wires for aesthetic reasons. If it looks good I'll do it.

That could be a 1000 miles cross the country, but my signature on a new pole is a lag tapped on the top, just deep enough so it will not fall…..so if you ever see a lag in a pole top …..it might just be!!!!

Damn... I thought I was the only one that used that on overhead. I love those things. When I have a bad transformer and want to tie the secondary with the next tub down, I use those elastamold straight splices, picking up load is a breeze with them. Ever forget to stock the truck and need to put to odd-ball wire sizes together? URD elastamolds work great!Highplains Drifter wrote: I always carry four of the ELASTIMOLD secondary six way bars. Me confused?? Are you all talkin about "Mole Bars?" If so the clear above ground bars or the black subserfs? I'd have to see that?

I use those underground splices ( look kind of like a submarine) to join two pieces of wire together. Or if you need to connect a bunch of wires together those 5-way secondary blocks that you would use in a handhole.
They look kinda funny using that stuff on overhead, but they work great! I swear, I thought I was the only person crazy enough to use that stuff on overhead.
