Finally President Obama is going on the offensive.....instead of sitting there and listening to the constant "shit" thrown at him, about him, and anything he does.

I like the ad, and hope more are on the way! Time to put the facts out there to refute all the bullshit the republicans are throwing out there about him. Mitt Romney is the biggest joke to run for office since....well....George Bush.....I guess he will get a lot of votes though.....many people need a good laugh....

You should post that on PL.com.

The USA is not my country yet I was at constant odds with many over there about just how well President Obama was doing. I voiced my opinion so much so I was banned - twice. I pointed out that racism wasn't acceptable. I'm very glad that President Obama has finally come out and shown just what the Swampgas/Duckhunter way of thinking has done to your country and how the economic mess was because of the Bush/Cheney mismanagement of your nation.

I very much hope it won't be long before the suffering of the economy of your nation is ended.

What do you need money in a legal defense fund for Walker? Did you do something criminal? Can we say "John Doe probe?"...certainly hope there are no skeletons in your closet Mr TeaGagger extraordinaire.

Walker campaign transfers $60,000 for John Doe lawyers

Gov. Scott Walker's campaign recently transferred $60,000 to a special fund set up to pay the governor's two criminal defense lawyers in the ongoing John Doe investigation into various activities during his time as Milwaukee County executive, according to newly filed state records.

In addition, Walker's fund also paid about $52,000 in unspecified expenses to a Milwaukee law firm that is representing the campaign in the John Doe probe.

Walker has said repeatedly that he and his campaign are cooperating with the investigation, which has led to charges against three of Walker's county aides, one former county appointee and a major campaign contributor. The two-year probe is being led by Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm.

On April 13, Walker's campaign transferred $60,000 to the Scott Walker Trust, the fund created for his two defense attorneys.

The first-term Republican governor had previously disclosed that he personally owed the law firms for the pair of attorneys more than $55,000 as of Dec. 31.

State law requires that the campaign get prior approval from donors before shifting their funds to a legal-defense fund.

Walker campaign spokeswoman Ciara Matthews declined Tuesday to identify the governor's donors who authorized using their money in this way.

"Governor Walker's disclosures have been made in accordance with, and as required by, the law," she said.

In addition, Walker's campaign fund paid $171,438 to the Milwaukee firm of Michael Best & Friedrich. All but $52,368 of that amount, however, is listed as being related to the recall.

The other expenses are described as "monetary" for compliance issues.

The campaign has previously paid Michael Best and a second firm, Patton Boggs of Washington, D.C., slightly more than $115,000 for the same type of expenses. Walker has disclosed that his campaign retained ex-U.S. Attorney Steven Biskupic of Michael Best after prosecutors subpoenaed campaign email in 2010.

Matthews declined Tuesday to be more specific about the recent payments to Biskupic's firm.

"Again, as I have told you before, the campaign contracts with Michael Best & Friedrich for legal services to handle various compliance issues on our behalf," Matthews said."

I can see rats like swampgas and all his scab buddies voting for Romney in November, but for union members a vote for Romney is a vote to cut your own throat;

In addition to supporting a right-to-work-law, Romney has called for the repeal of a federal law requiring the prevailing local wage to be paid on public-works projects. He has pledged that on the first day of his presidency he would forbid any union preference in federal contracting and said he would fight rules allowing union dues to be taken out of paychecks to fund political activities.

"I've taken on union bosses before," the former Massachusetts governor said in Grand Rapids on Wednesday. "I'm happy to take them on again."

He has squarely blamed unions for the nation's economic troubles.

"Labor has asked for too much and business people have exceeded their demands only to see the business ultimately fail," he told the Ames Tribune's economic board in December. "That's what happened to GM and Chrysler. The demands of labor unions over time killed those businesses and made America become less competitive."

Yet four years ago, he repeatedly blamed the auto industry's woes on the federal government and called for a summit with industry, union and political leaders to restore the auto industry.

"Together we will develop a plan to rebuild America's automotive leadership," he said in a January 2008 speech to the Detroit Economic Club.

This is from one of Ruby's not to bright relativities and a teacher local to boot. Can you imagine someone suggesting Charlotte built a new stadium just for Obama speech and the National Democratic Convention.

I'm afraid it would simply be a waste of time. Nitt witts like swamp live in a fairy tale world of make believe. Unable to see the truth and believing everything fox snooze and Limbaugh can shovel at them.
We live in a world where public opinion is the art of social engineering. We all grew up listening to the news about a factory closings and layoffs. Those of us in the rust belt have seen it up close and personal.
Its always the same story... Global competition and payroll costs made the plant closure nessesary. It some cases this is true. But for People like Romney, the art of leveraged Buyouts has made him rich beyond his dreams. Don't get be wrong, I don't have a thing bad to say about capitalism.
Coming up with an idea, raising funds, building a factory, and beginning to sell products is one, often admirable, way to get rich. Undertaking a leveraged buyout of an existing firm, shutting down a bunch of its plants, reorganizing it, and then flipping the restructured entity to new owners is very different. One creates jobs, one kills them. One is noble, the other squalid. One builds firms, the other loots them.

I've posted before over at powerbottom about leveraged Buyouts, But here's how the scam works; A venture Capital firm, We'll call it Wesrewyou&Howe, attracts investors from all over the world. To avoid US taxes, many times these shell companies are located in the Caymen Islands. Wescreyou&Howe searches constantly for healty under achieving business's. Many times they've been in Business for 75 years or more, passed down through generations. When Wescrewyou&Howe finds there victim they offer a lucerative deal to buy the company. Many times the offer is to good to be true. They promise growth, profits and greater market share, Plus a fantastic cash incentive, Not only to them but to the Share holders.

Once the Deal is done, Wescrewyou&Howe re-structures the company, reduced its labor force and imediatly increases its dept load . Wescrewyou&Howe piles on the debt by using the companies credit to take out massive loans which it uses in future leveraged buy-outs. Wescrewyou&Howe also charges obsene management fee's which it uses to pay off the original investors and pad their own pockets as well.
eventually the promise of growth, increased demand, and expanded market share evaporate and they are bled dry by debt load. Company stock becomes worthless paper. Wescrewyou&Howe simply flips the company or closes it down reaping millions in proffits, Most of it tax free.

Mitt Romney is just one of thousands. The super rich elite with zero scruples and morals. a souless greedy Mr. Potter. They will do anything and say anything in their endless search for more profit. The Gordon Gecko mentality of Greed is good.
This November we go to the polls. You get to choose between corporate greed and the American working class.

How soon some seem to forget! Empty James Hoffa comments on Romney

Post  topgroove Wed May 09, 2012 3:22 pm

Labor Voices: Mitt Romney more a job killer than creator

James P. Hoffa

There's nothing funny about a factory closing, unless you're Mitt Romney.

While campaigning in Wisconsin recently, he shared a "humorous" story about his father closing an auto plant and laying off workers in Michigan.

He was criticized for being "out of touch." But I think the problem with Mitt Romney is that he doesn't believe working families should have good jobs at good wages.

That's a frightening thought. Right now, the last thing America needs is a president who doesn't understand that a vibrant economy requires a vibrant middle class.

Someone has got to build things and someone has got to buy them if our economic system is to work.

Throughout his business career, Romney made his fortune from companies he helped destroy. Under his leadership at Bain Capital, companies stopped making things and workers bought fewer things — because they lost their jobs.

Romney founded Bain, a vulture capital firm, in 1984.

While there he made hundreds of millions of dollars. He devised a system of buying a company, slashing costs, firing workers and halting investment and modernization. It didn't matter to him if a company failed because he pulled out plenty of cash, early and often.

His track record is what you'd expect. Of all Bain's investments under Romney, 22 percent went bankrupt or went under within nine years.

In 1992, Bain bought a hanging file folder company in Indiana called SCM. On July 5, 1994, security guards surrounded the building and told all 258 union workers they were fired. They could reapply for their jobs at lower wages. Some did. Eventually the workers were forced to strike. Bain closed the plant.

In 1993, Bain purchased a Kansas City steel mill, GS Industries, and drove it into bankruptcy.

Bain's partners did just fine, making $50 million. But more than 700 workers lost their jobs, their health insurance, their severance pay and some of their pension benefits. Taxpayers picked up the tab for the company's underfunded pension plan.

In 1994, Bain led a group of investors to buy Dade International, a medical technology firm in Miami. They fired close to 2,000 workers and loaded the company with debt — while taking hefty management fees, of course. Dade went bankrupt within eight years.

Between 1987 and 1995, Bain made $587 million from five businesses. All five eventually went bankrupt.

Teamsters are all too familiar with vulture capitalists like Mitt Romney. We have suffered at the hands of hedge funds and private equity firms that follow the blueprint he perfected at Bain.

We have watched as inept managers cut costs, laid off workers and halted investment while helping themselves to boatloads of cash. Then, when the company fails, they blame the union — just as Romney blames unions for the recession.

This is not the "free market."

This is not "free enterprise."

This is playing by rigged rules and pretending to play fair.

While at Bain, Romney sniffed out tax breaks, subsidies and bailouts, and was as happy to loot the taxpayer as the companies he wrecked.

Romney wasn't as keen on contributing to the public treasury that helped support his ventures. He stashed his money in a Swiss bank account while Bain set up 138 offshore funds in the Cayman Islands.

It's predatory capitalism and it's destroying our economy.

James P. Hoffa is president of the Teamsters. Email comments to letters@detnews.com.

How soon some seem to forget! Empty Romney's prep school days

Post  topgroove Thu May 10, 2012 9:46 pm

On the day after President Obama became the first sitting president to endorse same sex marriage, Mitt Romney is facing a blistering portrayal as an anti-gay prep school bully.

A story published today by The Washington Post recounted an incident at the prestigious Cranbrook School in Michigan when Romney orchestrated a hazing against a presumed homosexual student.

The student, John Lauber, was tackled and pinned to the ground in 1965 by a group of students led by Romney, who wanted to cut the student's bleached-blond hair (Romney would’ve been 17-18 years old at the time).

Five of Romney’s fellow students separately and independently recalled the incident the same way, including Romney's close friend Matthew Friedemann.

"Friedemann entered Stevens Hall off the school’s collegiate quad to find Romney marching out of his own room ahead of a prep school posse shouting about their plan to cut Lauber’s hair,” the Post reported. “Friedemann followed them to a nearby room where they came upon Lauber, tackled him and pinned him to the ground. As Lauber, his eyes filling with tears, screamed for help, Romney repeatedly clipped his hair with a pair of scissors."

Thomas Buford, the wrestling champion who helped Romney restrain the boy, later apologized to Lauber, telling the Post "to this day it still troubles me."

Romney responded to the allegations this afternoon on Your World with Neil Cavuto on Fox News.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“I don’t recall the incident myself but I’ve seen the reports and not going argue with that,” Romney said. “There’s no question that I did some stupid things in high school and, obviously, if I hurt anyone by virtue of that I would be very sorry for it and apologize for it."

"I certainly don't believe that I thought the fellow was homosexual," Romney said of Lauber in a live radio interview with Fox News personality Brian Kilmeade. "That was the furthest thing from our minds back in the 1960s, so that was not the case."

But this is not the only incident. Gary Hummel, an English student who later came out as gay, says Romney would taunt him with "atta girl" when he spoke out in class.

How soon some seem to forget! 0119-l10
Loris Huffman of Marion, Ind., lost her job of 40 years at the local American Pad & Paper Co. factory, after Bain Capital took it over in 1994. She says Bain closed the plant rather than negotiate with a striking union. During Mitt Romney's 1994 US Senate race, she attended campaign events in Massachusetts to relay her experience with Bain Capital. [Editor's note: This caption has been changed to correctly describe Ms. Huffman's anti-Romney political activities.]

Melanie Stetson Freeman/Staff

Before Mitt Romney’s Bain Capital bought the rambling SCM factory in Marion, Ind., it was running three shifts a day, making hanging file folders and other office supplies. But on July 5, 1994, everything changed.

The new owner, American Pad & Paper, owned in turn by Bain Capital, told all 258 union workers they were fired, in a cost-cutting move. Security guards hustled them out of the building. They would be able to reapply for their jobs, at lesser wages and benefits, but not all would be rehired.

“We were told they bought the assets, not the union or the [labor] contract,” recalls Randy Johnson, who at the time worked as a machine operator and was a union shop steward. The workers – some the third generation in their families to have jobs there – eventually went on strike, and Bain closed the factory 5-1/2 months after acquiring it.

Bain Capital’s activities while Mr. Romney ran it from its founding in 1984 until he left in 1999 are being scrutinized now that he is front-runner in the Republican presidential race. Romney says that he knows business and that his work at Boston-based Bain led to the creation of 100,000 jobs. His business record and management prowess could be deciding factors if he’s the GOP nominee, because credibility on the issue of jobs is likely to determine who resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue next January.
