On the safety call this morning we were informed of two incidents at Jersey Central Power yesterday...the first was a primary contact...Not too many details, I believe he made contact on his side and I believe they said 7200. Will elaborate when I get more details.

Second incident was in the news, a traffic incident in Jackson NJ...employees not hurt, but elderly lady died as a result of the accident...a heavy burden to bare to the men involved.

84 Year Old Jackson Woman Killed in Crash After Failing to Stop at Intersection

An 84 year old Jackson Township resident, Lois Heineman, died of injuries sustained in an accident when her Toyota Camry collided with a JCP&L utility truck at the intersection of Cooks Bridge Road and Bennetts Mills Road in Jackson. A police investigation into the cause of the accident indicates the woman did not stop at the red light and proceeded through the intersection, travelling south, when it was struck by the JCP&L truck being driven by 65 year old Brows Mills resident, John Sopher. Heineman was transported to Kimball Medical Center by Quality First Aid where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police say Heineman was not wearing seatbelt restraints at the time of the crash and had to be extricated by fire personnel on scene.

Multiple Police Officers responded to the scene and the investigation is being conducted by Officer Joseph Candido. Other agencies including Jackson Fire Company #1, Jackson Mills Fire Company, Quality First Aid, Monoc Paramedics, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CIU, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police Commercial Vehicle Inspection Unit also responded to assist with the investigation.

The roadway was closed to traffic for approximately five hours for investigative purposes. Also assisting Officer Candido were Police Officers Kevin Chesney, Patrick Mackin, Christopher Kelly, Derek Gorski and Sgt. Brian Geoghegan.

Anyone who may have witnessed this accident is urged to call the Jackson Township Police Department at 732-928-1111.
